If you don't have a CV yet or you have one but you didn't up-date it in the last few years because you didn't think that you will need it well, it's time for you to rethink that. Here are a few tips & tricks about how to build your CV.

First of all don't forget that your CV is you visit card in front of potential employers. Some of them will decide to hire you based on it and their decision will surely influence you life for the years to come. I've met a lot of people that don't want to invest time in building a CV either because they don't know how to, they are lazy or just don't think is that important. Except for the situation when you already know the employer and he knows you also so he doesn't need your CV in any other situations the employer will want to know something about you, where you used to work, what you know, what trainings or courses you took over the time. Best trick in this situation is to try and put yourself in the employer's shoes. Think about it for a minute. If you own a business or manage one and you need someone with your skills, how will you find such a person? If you have 100 applicants, how will you choose the best one out of them? Your time is important but think about it, the time that a manager or owner of a business has is more precious to him so he will try to find ways to spend it well. If he has to choose a person he will allow 1 or 2 minutes (or even 10 seconds) to reed his CV. If this CV contains only some job names and some companies it's very likely that he will trow away the paper.

Anyway I'll try to put together some lines that will help you to build a good CV that will help you to go to the interview and obtain the job that you want.

Let's start with the basics - the format of the CV. I've seen so far thousands of CV formats and it seems to me that the ancient romanian wisdom define very well this problem "cate bordeiuri, atatea obiceiuri (every home has it's own rules)". Best way to handle this is to use a format that is familiar to the company that you apply for (if they have one on theyr site), if not, use the most common format that you know about. Since we are members of the EU and we need to comply to EU regulations, I believe that the best way is to use European Format for the CV. It's very likely that the person that will read your CV is familiar with the format and will know where to search for information that is relevant to them.

Next come your personal information. I know it seems really simple and easy but I've meet a bunch of CV with problems at this basic chapter so here are a few rules:

Your experience is the most relevant part of your CV and you must follow a few steps in order to highlight the most important informations about what you have done in the past. Let's put all the information in order:
